Over the years Balgochian has earned his reputation as a dedicated musician and composer. A rare breed of funk and free improvisation, he was the house bassist for the original "House of Blues" in Cambridge, MA., and a long time member of the 2 time Handy Award winner "Paul Rishell Band." In the soul, funk, R&B arena he has worked with Darryl Jones (Miles Davis, Rolling Stones) Jr. Medlow (The Cobras) and Big John Kroft (The Fabulous Blends.) As a free funk improviser he has worked with Nuyorican poet Miguel Algarin, Steve Dalachinsky and Yuko Otomo, Beat Poet John Sinclair, Butoh dancer Min Tanaka and Sun Ra's Marshall Allen. A member of the Cecil Taylor Trio & Big Band they were awarded Best Performances of '05, '09, and '16 - All About Jazz.
